Your Family Away from Home

Come work in Shibuya! The teachers here are both part-time with a mix of some full-time teachers! The teachers are very welcoming and the bonds between teachers are rock solid. Our school has an equal number of new and veteran teachers who care deeply for the students. We are looking for more teachers who want to provide great lessons for students and who love interacting with people and making new connections. If you are new to Japan and are looking for friends, you will love working here. If you are looking for a part-time job, this is the right place to work for you.  So, come work in Shibuya!

Arni’s Testimony

Hi ! My name is Arni and I’m from Cebu, Philippines. I came to Japan in May, 2017 and started working at OCE in mid week of July, 2017. OCE has been my second home. The beginning months in Japan were really tough for me because of language barrier. Not only that, it was hard to fit in to the culture. I came from a pretty laid back society so jumping into a big city like Tokyo was a drastic change (both positive and negative). OCE is a comfortable zone for individuals who are open minded , goal-oriented and positive.

Shibuya teachers are sweet and close-knit. We eat lunch together every Saturday and we talk a lot about our students and events in our schools. Teachers feel great sharing their experiences, both good and bad. They’re very open individuals and always on the go! We create a different bond from other schools. We make sure everyone feels at home.
Our students are the same, they’re very attached to their teachers. They find ways to book teachers despite their hectic schedule. As you may probably know, Shibuya is one of the most visited places in Tokyo. Ergo, a lot of our students are volunteer tour guides, President of a company, office workers and sometimes CELEBRITIES ! How cool is that? There are more reasons to join One Coin English and we in Shibuya branch are looking forward to having you in our team!

I found OCE through web searching and I was fascinated the fact that they have varieties of nationalities. Without a doubt, I gave it a try. It was also from the mere fact that I want something different this time. It was fine wearing suits to work but not the best feeling for me. At OCE, we can be who we are and wear what we want! I started working at One Coin English as a part time worker working 4 days in a week then became a semi-full time worker in a few months working 5 days a week from 1pm to 10pm. After that, I got the full time position and at the moment, I am the Teacher Manager of Shibuya branch. The experience so far is life changing. You meet so many wonderful people that will help you grow, as a person.

This is what Arni has to say
Life in Shibuya

The Iconic Crosswalk

Needless to say, if you work in Shibuya you can experience the famous crosswalk. As seen in countless Hollywood movies, Shibuya is the Times Square of Tokyo. Many people from all over the world gather here to enjoy its modern architecture, unique shops, and beautiful night view. Our school is located close to all the delicious and affordable restaurants. That’s not all, if you have a job or work in Shibuya you can visit many karaoke shops!

It is very easy and convenient to come here since there are many JR as well as Metro lines passing through. Even if you live slightly further away from Shibuya, you can work here for sure! In addition, Shibuya is close to some of Tokyo’s most iconic hot spots such as the fashion district Harajuku and the famous Yoyogi Park.
